This week's Disneybound features my favorite character: Belle! She is the character that I've always felt that I could relate to the most, and Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie. As a result, this is one of the Disneybounds that I have most been looking forward to doing. I do have other Beauty and the Beast themed Disneybounds in the works, so stay tuned for those at later dates. So, let's break down the look.
This Disneybound features village Belle, so the colors here are blue and white. It's a pretty straightforward design: blue dress with a white shirt underneath. However, I decided to put my own spin on it. I went with blue jeans, a blue shirt, and a white cardigan. Since Belle wears black flats for much of the film, I decided to wear black high heels to elevate the outfit a bit. The jeans that I wore are Seven7 brand, and I bought them at Sam's Club. The shirt is by Elle, and I got it at Kohl's several years ago. The cardigan came from Ross or Marshalls. I can't remember which. The pumps are Nine West, and I bought them at Ross. For my makeup, I decided to go with a rose-inspired look. I wore a rosy nude eyeshadow, brown and gold eyeliner, light blush and highlighter, and a rosy red lipstick. For my jewelry, I went with gold and rose inspired pieces. The earrings are gold roses with red petals, and the bracelet is gold with rose and Belle-inspired charms. I bought all of the charms at Hobby Lobby and put the pieces together myself. I wanted to wear rose-inspired jewelry like Belle did in the live-action film. It's a blending of both versions of Beauty and the Beast. The hair was probably the most frustrating part of this whole bound to get right. I can't tell you how many times I had to redo it just to get it right. I still think it looked too messy up close, but it looked good on camera, so who am I to complain too much? I will definitely try to plan ahead better on the hair to get it perfect next time.
I wanted the book I read in the photos to be a hardback, and while I didn't have a solid blue book like Belle did in the animated film, I did have a blue and red book. It's a vintage copy of The Scarlet Pimpernel, which just so happens to be one of my favorite books. It's a story the takes place during the French Revolution in both England and France. If you love history, adventure, romance, and mystery, I highly recommend checking it out. There are also some films based on the book, but I personally prefer the 1934 version with Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon. I had seen the 1982 film in a history class in high school, and was very excited when I received this book from an English teacher later in high school. It quickly became one of my favorites, and has been ever since. I have since purchased a new copy of The Scarlet Pimpernel to read, so that I can preserve this vintage copy. However, I do like to drag it out for special occasions, and I deemed that this was one. I was very excited to use this book for this Disneybound, as I felt it paid homage to my love of literature and a book that I wish was better known.
Anyway, I loved doing this bound, and I hope that you enjoyed it, too. Do you have any ideas on future bounds that you would like to see?
